Welcome to Big Red Palmetto! First a little history and insight into our store name... 

A red flag with a white palmetto and crescent, is believed to have been flown by The Citadel cadets who fired on the Star of the West on January 9, 1861. The flag--Big Red, is also called The Citadel Spirit Flag—and is flown on the Parade Ground and is carried by cadets at football games and on other occasions. The flag is uniquely Citadel as it was created by the ladies of Charleston before the Civil War for The Citadel cadets stationed on Morris Island. It was only flown twice; and never carried into battle. To this day, all Citadel Cadets proudly wear a patch of the Big Red on their Left shoulder of their OCP uniforms. 

With that being said, we too are rich in history and are proud to offer vintage and current Citadel logos for your Citadel fan gear. Founded by two friends with backgrounds in promotional items who share a passion for The Citadel, our store is committed to providing the highest quality products to our customers. 

One owner is a gentleman who graduated from The Citadel in 1975. He has a deep appreciation for the school and its traditions, and he brings that same passion to our store. He is committed to ensuring that every product we sell accurately represents the values and spirit of The Citadel. 

Our other owner is a lady who has a son currently in ECHO company at The Citadel. She understands firsthand the pride and dedication that comes with being part of the Citadel community. Her son's experiences as a cadet have given her unique insights into the needs and desires of Citadel students and alumni, which she brings to the products we offer. 

Together, our owners have created a store that embodies the values and traditions of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. We offer a wide variety of products, from t-shirts and hats to backpacks and glassware, all featuring the iconic and current Citadel logos. Whether you're a current student, alumni, or simply a fan of The Citadel, we have something for everyone.
